National Toasted Marshmallow Day!

Celebrate National Toasted Marshmallow Day on August 30th!

August 25, 2011

Have your very own marshmallow toasting party on National Marshmallow Toasting Day?

We dare you! NO... We double dare you!

Ancient Egyptians would extract sap from the marshmallow plant and mix it with nuts and honey. Another pre-modern recipe uses the pith of the marshmallow plant, rather than the sap. The stem was peeled back to reveal the soft and spongy pith, which was boiled in sugar syrup and dried to produce a soft, chewy confection.

The most popular way to eat marshmallows is toasted over an open fire! Where you prefer golden brown or charred to a crispy black, we say Happy National Toasted Marshmallow Day!

Break out your sticks and roast a marshmallow or 2!
